Martin Luther College (MLC) overlooks New Ulm, a small community of
13,000 with a rich German heritage. Its landmark structure, Old Main,
was built in 1884. The college serves the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran
Synod (WELS), a theologically conservative church body with national
offices in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. MLC trains men and women to serve as
early childhood teachers, elementary teachers, secondary teachers and
staff ministers. This accredited college also prepares men for pastoral
training at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. The faculty of MLC serves the
WELS in the areas of church and educational leadership while also
maintaining an active presence in local and national academic and
theological organizations.
